Food.

It’s always been your thing. It’s been a comfort, a distraction, a stress-reliever.

As a kid, it was the one thing that soothed you. As a teen, it comforted you through those horrific awkward years. And in college, it was your late-night study partner.

And it absolutely got you through grad school…

Food brings you so much joy…and so much pain. It’s your best friend and your worst enemy. You go back and forth from restricting to bingeing to restricting again. You just can’t seem to get control over it.

It’s the battle you can’t seem to win. You’ve accomplished almost every other goal you’ve ever set.  You're a therapist who's devoting your life to helping your clients heal.  But food…that's the one thing you just can’t get a handle on. And that makes you feel defeated.  Ashamed. Hopeless.

Especially because you're a therapist.  You're supposed to know how to heal this yourself, right?

Nope…

And that’s where I can help…

I'm Kim (she/her/hers), and I'm a Certified Level 2 trained IFS (Internal Family Systems) therapist who’s also a Certified IE (Intuitive Eating) Counselor. I’ve been working with womxn who struggle with disordered eating for over 20 years now. I’m passionate about helping my clients learn to make peace with food, stop the binge/restrict cycle, treat their bodies with respect, and give themselves the compassion that they deserve.

And I love working with other therapists.

I get therapists. I know you’re highly sensitive and put everyone else first. I know you’re a caretaker who’s last on your own list.

I know that when your clients bring up their own issues with food and body image, you think, “how the F can I help with this???”

And I know you think you should be able to fix this.

But you’re not superhuman.

You’ve been baked in diet culture just like everyone else. You’ve learned to fear food and restrict your calories/carbs/points just like every other human. And you’ve learned that your body just can’t be right no matter what it looks like. Just like the rest of us.

Being a therapist doesn’t make you immune to the impact of diet culture. And in fact, it makes it even harder for you. Because on top of feeling guilt and shame over your disordered eating, you feel even more guilt and shame because you think you “should be able to fix this.”

But you can’t do that alone. Let me help.

Trainings, Workshops, and Online Courses

Most of us therapists weren’t trained in how to work with clients struggling with food and body concerns. And I know that you may have parts that freak out a little (or a lot!) when clients mention them during session.

But I truly believe that most therapists can work with these issues. You may just need a little guidance. And a boost of confidence!

I also know that everyone learns differently, so I try to offer a variety of educational opportunities. From didactic trainings to experiential workshops to self-study courses, I’ve got something for everyone!
