One of my favorite things to do is train other therapists.
My graduate program didn’t spend much time teaching us about eating disorders, which is extremely unfortunate because so many of our clients are engaging in disordered eating patterns. And what I did learn in grad school was highly weight-centric and heavily influenced by diet culture. Because of this, I had to piece together my own education, experience, and supervision. I’d love to save you the time, energy, and money of having to do the same.
While I do love doing live, in-person or virtual trainings, it’s hard to get everyone together at the same time. So I created a self-paced series called Unburdened Bites: Helping Your Clients Heal Their Relationships with Food and body. The series is comprised of two courses, each covering the most important aspects of working with clients who are struggling with emotional eating, binge eating, and chronic dieting.
And yes—you get two CEs for each course!
Unburdened Bites, Course 1
This course contains three instructional videos. Video One details the common parts that those with food and body concerns tend to have in their internal system and provides case examples. Video Two focuses on the goals of the work and discusses common client goals (such as weight loss), our own parts' goals for the client, and finally the true goals of the work. Video Three focuses on working with polarizations.
The course also includes a workbook as well as two prerecorded meditations to help you get to know the parts in your Eating System. This is an essential part of working with these clients.

Unburdened Bites, Course 2
This course also contains three instructional videos. Video one focuses on helping your clients heal their negative body image and emphasizes the role of Self in this process. Video two discusses the cultural burden of diet culture in our society and the messages our parts receive from it as well as the legacy burdens that many Eating Systems carry. Video three focuses on the ultimate goal of Self-led eating; specially, what Self-led eating looks like and how to help your clients get there. We also discuss Intuitive Eating and how to blend this model with IFS.
Like course one, course two also includes a workbook and two prerecorded meditations so that you may continue to be curious about your own system.
This course will be released in mid-May, 2026, so check back soon!
While I truly believe that IFS trained therapists and practitioners have the skill set to work with such disordered eating patterns as emotional eating, stress eating, chronic dieting (minus severe restriction), occasional binge eating, and negative body image, this series does not provide training on severe eating disorders. If you are not trained in working with those who are medically impacted by their eating disorder or who are engaging in severe restriction, purging, or frequent binge eating, I strongly recommend referring those clients to a highly trained provider.
